Please help us expand our research further by donating to Glassroots KY. Here is what we would put your contributions towards:

  1. Ordering more crushed glass to extend our testing to further sites. A 10ft container from our partners in Louisiana costs around $7000. We have identified multiple other wetland sites in South Sound and North Sound, as well as inland fresh/brackish water wetlands in which to test our restoration approach.
  2. More burlap bags. These can be purchased new from Sandbaggy but we would also be grateful for any used burlap bags you can bring back from your travels. Just walk into any coffee roaster and ask if they have any used burlap bags to spare. Remember these need to be fully biodegradable.
  3. Resources to pay for specialized coastal volunteers to help us on our coastal implementation days
  4. Professional filming and footage of the project implementation
  5. Food and beverages and tents for the coastal implementation days
  6. Tools such as measuring scoops for sandbagging, wheelbarrows and gardening gloves, kayaks for moving things around
  7. Ultimately we should think about a community glass crusher that can serve the island’s needs. That costs approximately $500,000 for the specifications we need for the Cayman Islands.
